Tournament Schedule

The Premier League season kicks off on Friday 21^st August with Champions Arsenal hosting Championship Champions Coventry City.

Champions League

For simplicity (and fun) we have reverted back to the previous version of the Champions League format.

Again, the first three weeks are reserved to allow everyone to balance their squads and utilise the transfer window

16 teams. Four groups of four, drawn at random (no seeded teams this season).

Gameweeks 4-9: Groups play out. Six games each.
Top two go through to the Quarter-Finals. No Intramural League/Europa League this season.

After the international break, GW’s 11 & 12: Quarter-Finals.
Two legs. 1A vs. 2B, 1B vs. 2A, 1C vs. 2D, 1D vs. 2C.

GW13 is a midweeker, no CL ties.
Semi-Finals: Gameweeks 14 & 15 – 1A/2B vs. 1C/2D; 1B/2A vs. 1D/2C

Then The Final will be played immediately afterwards – Gameweek 16 – and we will have a Champion by Christmas.

BFFA Cup

Following the conclusion of the Champions League, the BFFA Cup will begin in GW21 with all 40 teams competing.

After Gameweek 20 (a midweek gameweek), the top 24 teams in the Best-ish table (charting everybody’s matchpoints total) will get a bye to the Second Round. The lower 16 teams will be drawn in the First Round. The draw will again be (unknowingly) made by The English FA on our behalf on Monday, January 11th, 2027.

With no playoffs this season, the leagues and the Bestish Table will once again finish after Gameweek 38.

The Draft

As always, the four BFFA Drafts will be snake drafts.
(Round 1: Team 1 to Team 10, then Round 2: Team 10 to Team 1).

By now, you’ll hopefully have an idea of which players you might want in your squads. The scoring is very similar to last season. The tweaks to the format are outlined below.

The pick timer is set at 90 seconds. Please prepare your wishlist as comprehensively as you can.
Auto-Draft: We expect the platform will time you out on the first pick you miss, then set you to auto-draft. This will look for available players from your llist first, then go down the FanTrax pre-set player pool sorted by ADP.

We encourage you to prepare your wishlists in advance and to plan your strategy. To aid with this, you can take part in mock drafts on Fantrax to get a feel for the platform and for the popularity of players –

A Finessed Fantasy Format

Rule Change:

We revert bck to having a maximum of THREE active Forwards in your line-up.
No more 4-2-4’s. Sorry if you enjoyed that; and “you’re welcome” if you didn’t 😁

The valid formations this season are:

5-4-1 // 5-3-2
4-5-1 // 4-4-2 // 4-3-3
3-5-2 // 3-4-3

Scoring:

2027: Less wild, more balanced

Whilst retaining our format as something between the standard run-of-the-mill FPL and the high-scoring Dynasty game, this season’s points system creates a more level playing field across all four positions. It is very similar to last year but, on top of only allowing three active strikers on the field, these changes are outlined below.

First off, the massive rewards for Goalkeeper heroics have been halved. There is now much less peril when Alisson goes up for a corner, but still a substantial return for ‘keeper goals, assists and penalty saves. Defender goals and assists are also softened by a point.

You’ll also see that shots-on-target, tackles, interceptions and key passes now offer equal points for all players. The same can also be said for red and yellow cards too.

Finally, the negative points for Midfielders and Forwards in teams that concede have been removed, and so has the half-point striker clean sheet bonus.

We hope this is effective and enjoyable. We know that no system will suit everybody and suggestions for next season are always welcome. As we enter 2027, after we have all played a few months with this system, please share your opinions with us as we prepare for Season 14. All suggestions are welcome.
