⏰ ONE game left! 😬⏰
It might be remembered as an unusual week – low-scoring games, unexpected goalscorers, Smoky Bacon Athletic doing well… But there was still a high level of drama and more confirmations posted.

Premier League

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Mighty Fine had a great weekend – crowned BFFA Cup champions again, clinched second place and relegated Wicker Park in the process. Alexander Isak’s late penalty earned them 9 points, then singles from James and Muñoz got MFF over the line.
• Vanishing Spray ensured that they’d be playing Premier League fantasy football next season with a win over Housewives Fave. Schade, Hirst and De Bruyne all with important goals when it counted.
• Route 57 FC got out of a 4-game losing streak despite Vardy and Murillo finding the net for El Dude Bros. The win means that they can still escape relegation, but it will have to be through the playoffs.
🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
Route 57 FC -v- mighty Fine ► 8th -v- 2nd
GW9: 28 – 28 // GW18: 74 – 25 // GW27: 43 – 50

😬 The Run-In 🕐
Most of the top positions have been decided, but there are other things in play too. Gloopy Yarbles took the title weeks ago, but are still chasing Peltier for the 2025 Best-ish trophy; MFF have secured the runners-up prize but will be going to the Champion of Champions tourney as Cup winners; HLAB can’t topple Wives Fave without a 168-point turnover, but also can’t fall any lower than fourth so will be going into the Champions League at the Qualifiers stage.
So HLAB will get Champions League action in GW37. The next three – Smash, El Dude and Spray are all going into the IML Qualifiers, it’s just a matter of deciding who plays who. The only remaining battle in the Premier League this week is the fight for 8th place. Route 57 now occupy the escape pod, but have a tricky meeting with mighty Fine to come. They are 1-1-1 in previous meetings. Gnonto Seed, no doubt still celebrating Leeds United’s dramatic return to the Premier League, have an easier game on paper – versus El Dude (W2, L1).
As Gloopy and mighty Fine have qualified for next season’s Champions League as Cup Winners, there are also two places available for the reserves – the topscoring teams that don’t qualify by finishing in the top three. In the reserves table you can see the Best-ish Rankings, but with qualified teams greyed out. At the moment, two Championship teams – DBT & Preliminary Version – are reserves #1 & #2, but one or both could still finish in the top three. Therefore, Smash & Grab and possibly Route 57 FC take advantage and win a CL place if their totals remain above the rest at the end of the postseason.

Championship

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• For the fifth week in a row, three of the top four changed places.
• A SECOND dramatic (albeit low-scoring) tie between IBL and GoFys came to a conclusion last night with Ismaïla Sarr blanking against Forest. A brilliant block by Matz Sels kept Sarr from poking home, and Murillo’s goal redacted Sarr’s clean sheet point. Earlier on, Isak’s late penalty had cancelled two GoFys clean sheets and it looked like IBL were going to take a one-point win. However, a gameweek-end BPS recalculation demoted Schade (2 goals) from 3BP to 2BP. The draw means that IBL still have their fate in their own hands, but promotion is still not guaranteed.
• Preliminary Version won the first of their two top-four clashes. Eze and McNeil both returned double figures and the result dragged ATC down from second to fourth. Unfortunately for ATC on Cup Final weekend, only Virgil van Dijk got his name on the scoresheet and Martinez (9) was stuck on the bench.
• De Bruyne Trousers fully capitalised on City’s 1-0 win over Wolves – they got the goal, two clean sheets and all six bonus points! That 26 points from KdB + Gvardiol + Rúben Dias was enough in itself to complete the clean sweep over ASG this season.

De Bruyne Trousers -v- Preliminary Version ► 2nd -v- 3rd
GW9: 59 – 36 // GW18: 46 – 29 // GW27: 41 – 55

🔥🔥🔥😬 The Run-In 🕐 🔥🔥🔥
This is possibly the hottest title race that the BFFA has ever seen. Four teams, all within a win of each other, can take the title and two of them will face-off in the most crucial gameweek of the season. Unfortunately for Atletico Topo Chico, whoever comes away victorious from De Bruyne Trousers’ clash with Preliminary Version will finish above them and thus prevent ATC from taking the title… unless that game ends as a draw, and IB Lausig lose, then ATC would win the league with a win over Uncle Monty!
There is also a further complication in the quagmire that is the Championship promotion race! In fifth place sit Barons on 61 points. Should either Prelim or ATC lose, then Barons could slide back into fourth and go for the Champions League. If Prelim & ATC both lose, then victory over the Whiskey boys would give Barons a shot at the play-offs too!
On top of that, there is a consolation prize for any team that misses out on the top three. If, for example, De Bruyne Trousers or Preliminary Version don’t quite make it, then they are well-placed to take up one of the spare Champions League places next season. The reserve list is in the postseason preview below. You’ll be able to see there that All Star Gunners can also earn a place if they can outscore Smash & Grab and Route 57 FC.
There will be so much to watch over the two-day weekend!

League One

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Peltier’s title-winning 12-game unbeaten streak came to an end this week. AFC Chester finally dealt them a loss, in another unbelievably close head-to-head. Minteh’s goal was overshadowed by Isak’s penalty, costing him a bonus point and a clean sheet point. Despite Flekken’s powerful display last week, he was a single save shy of gaining a second potentially game-tying point, while Henderson’s 3 went unused. On the other hand, AFC Chester scored four (including both of Bournemouth’s goals) but only received 2BP.
• East Loop United got their first TotW this season, just one point ahead of their nearest competitors (Vanishing Spray). A brilliant 33 FPts from their back line (including 3 assists), coupled with Tielemans 11 and a goal from the ever-improving Hirst gave them an unassailable 54 FPts.
• SkyPlayer held Alleviate the Tedium to a draw in a dead rubber that neither team could benefit from, but it did prevent ATT from winning all four games against them.

Slots Fired -v- SkyPlayerInFPL ► 5th -v- 6th
GW9: 43 – 30 // GW18: 36 – 28 // GW27: 40 – 40

😬 The Run-In 🕐
Nice and efficiently, League One have set almost all of their final positions for us ahead of the deadline. Alleviate the Tedium are guaranteed second place, a promotion and a Champions League place for next season. The Phenoms now know that they will have to take the playoff route through Uncle Monty to get into the Championship, but also have clinched their CL slot.
The Champions League Qualifier from League One will either be AFC Chester or Slots Fired. Next week Chester face ATT (W2, L1) while Slots Fired get SkyPlayer (W2,D1). Chester have a two-point advantage, but on the off-chance that Chester & ATT draw, then Slots Fired could knick it if they can eat up the 14-point matchpoint deficit. They have outscored Chester by 15+ eight times this season, and Chester are overdue a tie…
There is also an outside chance that one of those teams could by-pass the CLQ’s and qualify straight for the Champions League proper. If results go their way and they can outscore other CL reserves, they could go straight to the Group Stage by merit of matchpoints scored.
In other news, SkyPlayer will be playing East Loop United in GW’s 37 & 38 for a place in next season’s IML QF’s, and Borussia Teeth (who will also be there) get a survival playoff against Boudi’s Crew (L2).

League Two

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Tino’s Legacy earn their promotion to League One with a one-point win over Flubbing Yanks and complete a Grand Slam in their season in the BFFA! Milenković and Elanga finished the gameweek off with a deuce each, then Evanilson replaced Timber for six more. Murillo’s goal in the same game nearly forced a draw, but Sels, Veltman and Wilson were subbed on with only one point each, not enough for a tie.
• Sporting Khilmaan took advantage of the Yanks inability to beat the Legacy. They were also involved in a humdinger, but came out of their encounter with a win that took them up into the Champions League place. New signing Youri Tielemans returned to the dressing room with 11 for his game-winning goal against Fulham. Unfortunately for Jaysokker, who are still playing for fourth place, goals from Palmer, Bowen and Enzo couldn’t cover Khilmaan’s total and they missed the chance to climb.
• Vardy’s 199th goal for Leicester helped to ensure that Partey Time would be in the IML during the postseason and not the Wooden Spoon. Although BattleVAR thrashed Boudi’s Crew in the hope of making it to 8th, that ship has now sailed.
🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
AI-Jiggery-Pokery -v- Flubbing Yanks ► 7th -v- 5th
GW9: 35 – 24 // GW18: 42 – 41 // GW27: 44 – 47

😬 The Run-In 🕐
So that’s it for the promotion race. Sham, Tino and Boudi have all been allocated their final positions, and Boudi know who they’re facing in the playoffs too. The next five (or more realistically, the next three) will be playing for Champions League football after the summer. Sporting Khilmaan and Flubbing Yanks have the advantage in the final week, but if both lose and Jaysokker win (and score 21 points more than Khilmaan), it could be them that go into the CLQ’s while the others decide who gets to represent the fourth tier at the last-ever Intramural League in October.
There is one more little glimmer of opportunity in the fourth tier. If BattleVAR Galactico, who have been scoring well all season, can put up another two or three big scores, they could find themselves going into the Champions League draw next season!

Dynasty League

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Hard to believe, but the run-in has become even more intensive. The pressure has crippled Rot-Weiß Barefoot and they are literally on the verge of plummeting as Peltier and Tino’s Legacy have caught up with them at the top.
• In an unusually low-scoring week, only TrevAI were strong enough to pass the 100-point mark, thanks largely to Cole Palmer’s 28.25, but mainly because of the six players recording double figures. Who needs goalkeepers, eh?
• It may have seemed impossible for most of the season, but a team from the bottom half may break into the top half next week. Like the loyal servant rising to the ranks of respectability, Vanishing Spray could move up to fifth if they beat Wonder Struijk next weekend. However, the Struijkers are not to be underestimated and the 0.50 winning margin this week is proof of that.

The Belyea Memorial Cup
2025 Belyea Losers: Partey Time
In rememberance of a former BFFA manager, fantasy football hero, Liverpool fan, father and friend to many. We are grateful that he was a part of our league and touched so many lives.
The Big One
It’s the BFFA Big One. The tried and tested (albeit inferior) traditional form of English Fantasy Football
that requires each manager to build a team with a budget of £150 million.
These teams must have no more than three players from the same PL club, excessive transfers are penalised by point deductions, and everyone gets a Haaland (if they want one).
Every team also gets to pick a Captain and there are bonus chips to play across the season.
This is a classic-style fantasy league, open to all BFFA managers past and present.
Last season The Big One was won by Prestige Worldwide, a subsidiary of The Premier League’s El Dude Bros, and The One Cup was won by Alleviate the Tedium.
This season’s One Cup is now underway. Results below.
This week’s top teams:
1) Smoky Bacon Athletic
71 Fantasy Points
2) Rover Cowley FC
69 FPts
3) Sporting Wicker Park
66 FPts
4) Gloopy Yarbles

5) The Phenoms

Postseason
The postseason is almost upon us.
The final two weeks of the season will offer every team something to play for. Your final league position (after GW36), and any appearances in the Finals of the CL/IML/Cup, will determine which of these mini-tournaments you can compete in.

These are the tables as they stand. We know nine teams that are guaranteed to finish top three and qualify for the Champions League (assuming here that Wives Fave are going to remain in third place).
On the right is the reserve list. The top two teams that don’t qualify for the Champions League via league position will earn a place thanks to their points total. The reserve list remains open until the end of GW38.

What you can see above is that the four League Champions will go into a pool for the bonus Champions of Champions title. They will also face the BFFA Cup winners – mighty Fine.
The teams finishing second and third will play in a two-week Runners-Up pool. They will be joined by the CL runners-up – De Bruyne Trousers (unless they win the Championship), the BFFA Cup runners-up – Atletico Topo Chico (unless they win the Championship) and the IML winners – Route 57 FC.
Going into next season’s Champions League will be:
⚽ The top three teams from each league,
⚽ The Champions League holders (Gloopy Yarbles)
⚽ The BFFA Cup winners (mighty Fine)
⚽ Plus two more from the Champions League Qualifiers.
The CLQ‘s are set to feature the four fourth-placed teams. They will be paired off into 2x two-legged play-off matches, the winners of which will qualify for the 2025 CL.
The CL winners and the BFFA Cup winners will both finish in the top three, and so two more places have to be filled. These two places will go to the two highest-scoring teams overall (that aren’t already qualified for the CL).

Next season’s Intramural League actually begins in GW37 with the four teams in each league who finish 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. The postseason will have a knockout for each league to put one team through to the Quarter-Finals next season.
And there will be another wooden spoon tournament this season too. The bottom two teams from each league will be put into a pool in GW37; the two lowest-scoring sides will play in a GW38 final where the loser gets the spoon.
Finally, there will also be the excitement of the Playoffs. After GW36, the top two go up and the bottom two go down. The third-best and third-worst of neighbouring leagues will fight across two gameweeks for the right to take the final promotion/survival place. The previous playoff results can be found on the Competitions page.
Hopefully that explains the basics of the postseason. There may be some overlaps in the mini-tourneys, for example – if the CL winners (Gloopy Yarbles) finish in the top four (quite likely), then a reserve will be needed to fill the space in next season’s Champions League Draw. That reserve place will go to the highest-scoring team that hasn’t yet qualified for the Champions League, so keep an eye on the best-ish table towards the end of Gameweek 36 for potential new entrants.
Of course, you won’t need to look at the league tables on the app after GW36, but the Best-ish tournament will rage on until the end of GW38, so keep trading, signing and setting your teams right through to the end.
I think that’s all for now.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the season!
